I am a shameless makeup junkie. And so, when I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch of NARS SS11 collection, I won’t lie, I was a tad overexcited. And it did not disappoint! After being greeted with a much needed ice cold drink (on an abnormally but deliciously hot day in London) we were talked through this season’s makeup looks by the ever so charming Davide. The looks ranged from Marc Jacobs’s sex kitten eyes to an eye popping citric green explosion. It certainly expressed NARS’s mission for SS11, to revitalise our summer makeup and complexion with warm, sophisticated tones and a pop of vivid, evocative colour.
Downstairs we got to play with the products...where needless to say I was in my element. We were introduced to NARS’s new pore refining primers (£24) which give SPF 30 protection and glide effortlessly onto the skin, the gorgeous catharge matte lipstick in ‘hot pink’ (£18.50), the wonderfully tropical soft touch shadow pencil in ‘celebrate’ (£16.50) and finally the colour for SS11, blue/aqua, in the 'Cap Ferrat' eyeshadow trio. All these new products were explained in detail by the lovely Beauty Seen PR girls, who were wonderful hostesses, and I even got a chance to have a NARS makeup artist test some of the products out on me...as well as take home an exciting little goodie bag!
Trio set of Orgasm, Albatross and Laguna.
Overall, a key piece to invest in is the set of Orgasm blusher, Albatross highlighter and Laguna bronzer, which I have all three of, but this little gem means I can still carry round all of them without carrying the 3 different containers. All will be available in May.
Carrying on with NARS, I also have to mention a new addition to my skincare regime. It’s their NarsSkin EFA potent lipid cream and my new holy grail of moisturisers. I was rather over excited to try out this moisturiser, because I’m completely in love with so much of Nars makeup. Also, I found out Shiseido (who I also have a weak spot for) actually produce the products for Nars skin, so you know it has lots of goodies in it. First of all, it has a really lovely orange blossom scent. My skin generally isn’t that dry, but I’m beginning to worry about wrinkles and expression lines, so I tend to concentrate it on the delicate skin around my eyes and my forehead and use it as a night cream as opposed to a day cream which its slightly too thick for. It really is amazing. Every morning when I wake up I have such soft, supple skin. It really makes your skin feel nourished and hydrated too. The nifty pump it comes with too means you won’t waste any of this gorgeous product. I’m massively wasteful when it comes to creams as I’m guaranteed to always squeeze out too much. This pump gives you just the right amount of product for your face. Perfect. At £51, its not cheap by any means...but if your skin is on the dehydrated side of things, its definately worth a try.
